Singin' In The Rain was presented in February of 2013.
"Like much of my work, I was heavily influenced by the original film version and worked to stage something that was as much fun and had a similar heart. We worked very hard to make the tap dancing honest and complicated - without the tap, you don't really have Singin' In The Rain. For the staging, I set the entire story on the lot of Monumental Pictures. Don's home became Don's office, the out door rain scene became a rain stage, and everything else was created to exist within the world of silent film production. This gave us the chance to have a series of moving set pieces that could come together to make different environments and the audience could watch them move without breaking the world. This kept the show moving quickly and kept the pace of the production up. We also created an actual rain stage for the signature number. The film production was one of the reasons I was drawn to the script. I changed the concept of a French swashbuckling Don Lockwood to a cowboy hero and shot all of the film scenes on location with a production crew. All of the films were shot in black and white 8mm to give the presentations a real historic feel and were edited together to create strong film productions from Monumental Pictures. Combining my strengths in film and theatre made this production a standout version of Singin' In The Rain."
